However, that’s exactly what happened when Asia lead singer John Payne rerecorded some vocals and remixed Beyond The Labyrinth’s “For Eternity” for Lisa LaRue’s “2K9 - World Class” album.
Beyond The Labyrinth (BTL), probably Belgium’s sole Classic Melodic Rock band, have been around since 1996.
What sets them apart from other bands may well be their unique sound, songwriting skills, deeper-than-average lyrics and song subjects, and genre-surpassing approach.
Composed out of a groupe of accomplished musicians, BTL is able to perform and appeal to rock as well as mainstream audiences. They have successfully supported bands in differrent styles, ranging from Uriah Heep (Classic Rock), Threshold and Pain Of Salvation (Progressive Metal), and Epica (Gothic), to local Mainstream top bands like The Magical Flying Thunderbirds (Belgium’s top party cover band) and De Kreuners on concerts in the Benelux, Germany and France.
With record companies taking no risk and investments in new music being scarse, BTL still manage to create attention by relying on a large base of loyal fans, working through social media sites like Facebook and Youtube - where they already published quite some footage.
The “Oceans Apart” video clip on Youtube is an excellent example of the band thinking out of the box and drawing media focus in that way.
The 3rd BTL album “Chapter III - Stories” is built up through a unique “Work In Progress” approach - releasing the album iTunes single by iTunes single.
This concept is now being adapted as a business model by bands all around the world. “Chapter III-Stories” is scheduled for release somewhere end of 2010, beginning of 2011.

Beyond The Labyrinth are :
Geert Fieuw (guitar, keyboard, main composer) - Gifted with a keen ear for melody, Geert quickly found out that it was much more fun trying to come up with his own music. Trying to combine the sheer raw power from AC/DC with the songwriting from Abba and imagery of movie soundtracks can only come from someone that transcends musical boundaries - resulting in Beyond The Labyrinth's unique sound and approach.
Jo De Boeck (vocals), a very pragmatic, down to earth kind of guy with a great sense of humor that often manages to put Geert back with his feet on the ground when the latter spends too much time floating on "Planet-BTL". Jo's broad influences range from AOR, Classic Rock, West Coast and beyond. Jo's distinctive voice is an irrevocable part of Beyond The Labyrinth's sound.
Gerry “Krenryg” Verstreken (Bass), an inimitable guy that lives for his music and brings experience, depth, drive and showmanship to Beyond The Labyrinth's sound and looks. If there is anyone that has contributed to the band's growth on stage, it has to be Gerry.
Michel Lodder (drums) a talented and versatile drummer that knows his classics and is not afraid to use them - or experiment with, for that matter.
All band members share the same passion for music, years of experience and musical insight. In the recording studio, they are a force to be reckoned with, driving and striving for the ultimate in sound and production until completely satisfied - or completely exhausted, whichever comes first.
